Nickname:
Some of the guys on the team call me Pop It! You’d have to ask Dan “Scheuey” Scheuermann why he started calling me that. Some of the guys at work call me “Bobby Boche” from the movie Waterboy. I guess the guys think I’m funny or something.
Name on the PoliceSoftball.com Message Board:
Bobby MN
Sports Background:
Played baseball and basketball in high school. I played college baseball at Creighton University (Omaha, NE) and Mankato State University (MN).
Softball History:
Joined the Minnesota Lawmen in 2000. Retired MN Lawmen Bob Wegner found me playing sandlot ball barefoot and gloveless.
Past Police Team:
There’s only one!
Proudest Police Softball Moment:
Representing our team last year in the 1st Annual Police World Series All Star Game was pretty cool. Having gone through a tough year personally it meant a lot for Coach Mike Reuvers to select me to the team; considering, the fact that there’s a handful of guys that have done bigger and better things for the team over the years than I.
Lowest Softball Moment:
Last year in Dayton when I hit a 299 foot pop up for the final out of the game against NJ G-Boys. I was the winning run and we had one bump left to get back to the hill. Brutal!
Future personal goals in Police Softball:
Making a sequel to the 2000 season when we won every tourney we were in with “style and flare”.
Where do you see our sport in 5-10 years?
With the strong leadership of the folks at PoliceSoftball.com and others I see our sport continuing to expand and spreading the love of competition between the white lines and the brotherhood outside them.
What is one thing you would change about police softball?I would like to see more players stick around and support those teams that make it deep into Sunday. I know it can be difficult with family issues and team disappointments, but we should have the biggest crowds watching the championship games and too often that is not the case.
MISC:
I want to wish everyone the best of luck this coming season and I look forward to competing against some of the best police softball players around!
