In 2009, then Sin City Combo coach Paul Howard, added some new players to the team that would be key to Sin City becoming a West Coast power. The biggest addition was Keith Habig who was a well respected civilian player and who was known as one of the best U-trip pitchers in the area. Keiths presence was felt immediately as he split time between his civilian team and the police circuit. In addition to his fine work on the bump, Keith quickly showed he was one of Sin City's top hitters.
Keith and Sin City had a great year that year and finished in 5th place at the World Series which was their highest finish at that time.
In 2010 new coach Noel Roberts made Keith an offer he couldnt refuse. Noel asked Keith to commit full time to Sin City. In 2010, Keith who would later be named team MVP, helped Sin City to their first Nevada Games championship, a 3rd place finish at the World Series and a #1 ranking in the West Coast. That year, Keith led the team in hitting and was once again lights out on the mound.
In 2011 the TEAM first attitude is what has elevated Keith to elite status. Keith again led Sin City in hitting as the teams #3 hitter but it is on defense where Keith has showed his all around skills. With Sin City needing a shortstop Keith, stepped in and has been a key to one of the West Coasts best defensive teams. Keith has also been key in helping new Sin City pitcher Trevor Neville become one of the top pitchers on the police circuit.
Keith has come in to pitch when needed to shut teams done throughout the year but his unselfishness in moving positions was huge for Sin City and he is one reason they are thought to be a lock for another top five finish at this years World Series.
Congratulations to Keith Habig for being named PoliceSoftball.com 2011 West Coast Player of the Year!
