Richie started playing Police Softball in 1989 joined New York Metro in 1991 immediately making his mark with excellent defense and high batting average. Richie could base hit from line to line, averaging nearly .700 throughout his career. During his years with New York Metro he was a key player when they won their Dayton National Championships. In 2010 Richie was presented the “Sportsman of the Year” award at the Dayton National Police Championships for his outstanding positive attitude and overall sportsmanship. At the time of his induction, Richie had played on the Police Softball circuit for twenty two years.
