Earlier this year policesoftball.com announced it would be naming its “All-Time” team. Essentially we have identified the players who we believe dominated the sport for an era. An era can loosely be defined as, “a period of time characterized by particular circumstances, events, or personages.” So we did not consider players with a short history in our sport. There are certainly some up and comers who will make a run at the “All-Time” team roster in in the future, but we focused on those who already have had a distinguished police softball career.
Ps.com writers spent a great deal of time compiling the list by pouring over E-mails. written documents and interviewing dozens of players whose careers spanned over several decades. Generally speaking, with only a few exceptions the players on the “All-Time” team are already Hall of Famers, and those who are not certainly will be in the next few years. It was also important to consider the impact their particular team(s) had on their era and teams. Essentially we targeted the best players on the best teams during their period. We believe you could argue for many players who were not included on our list, but it would be difficult to argue against any of these players.
