Congratulations to all of the newest memmbers of the Hall of Fame!
The chair person takes the top 10 vote getters and submits the names alphabetically with no scores to the committee and requires them to vote either “yes” or “no” for election to the HOF. This process is again confidential and the chair person counts the votes. If the nominee gets “6” or more yes votes out of 11 they are elected to the East Coast Hall of Fame. This year 2 of the HOF committee members were nominees in the process and were allowed to vote for their top 16 and the “yes” or “no” portion but were NOT allowed to vote for themselves. Therefore they needed 6 out of 10 votes. The entire process is completely documented with e-mail copies of votes and excel charts of the results saved by the chair person to prevent any allegations of wrong doings.
The East Coast Hall of Fame Committee is made up of a chair person Dennis Leonard, Andy Wurm, Koko Ware, Dave Woolf, Dan Spinelli, Terry Ables, David “Popeye” Stevens, Rich Malek, Terry Dugan, Robbie Freitas and Scott Affholter. This is a blend of current Hall of Famers and other respected players from across the East Coast.
This year there were 16 nominees and the first step in our process was to vote numerically for each player where they felt they ranked. Example would be your first choice would be # 1 and your last choice would be # 16. The votes are counted and a rank order is established from the lowest total to the highest total. The votes are submitted confidentially to the chair person who counts the total votes.
The final results for the East Coast Hall of Fame 2010 class is:
Robbie Freitas – Jacksonville Police Softball Club
Doug Cullen – Jacksonville Police Softball Club
Brian MacDermott – New York Metro
John “Doc” Grant – Minnesota Lawmen
Greg Beck – Cincinnati Lawmen
Steve Wilson – New York Metro
This year there were several excellent nominees who just missed earning selection to this year’s class and will be very viable candidates next year.
Soon the nominees that were inducted this year will be removed from the H.O.F. message board thread but all nominees who were not inducted will be left there to be reviewed again next year.
Just like last year, ALL Hall of Famers are encouraged to come onto the field at the World Series and stand there while we formally induct the 2010 class of the Hall of Fame. This is done to honor all of our past inductees and to welcome the newest inductees while they receive their Hall of Fame pin.
HALL OF FAME RINGS: If any Hall of Famer would like to order a Hall of Fame ring, they may contact
Lulu Martinez at Dunham Manufacturing. The ring shown above has a year (2007) and a name (Wright). These portions of the ring may be changed to reflect your specific year of induction and name. This year and name were chosen as our sample to honor Shevy Wright who threw out the first pitch at our 2007 World Series and passed away soon after. Stone color may also be changed to team color if you prefer. We chose the color blue to represent the thin blue line we are all a part of.
If you would like to change the ring to something other than the basic design as shown, you may customize it through Dunham Manufacturing.
Lulu Martinez is our HOF Ring consultant and she may be reached by telephone at 866-545-1722 or by E mail at lulumartinez@dunham-mfg.com
