The World Series will be changing the Adjoining State Rule for 2008 |
by: PoliceSoftball.com Oct 25, 2007
A roster data base will also be kept full time during the year
Looking to change teams next year? If so, please be aware of the new state rule for the 2008 World Series when making your decisions because the old adjoining state rule will be changed starting on 12-1-07. When the PoliceSoftball.com World Series began, we looked at the one state rule as used by the Dayton tournament. We really liked the one state rule because we felt it gave less chance for muliti state combo teams to develop which in our minds could eventually hurt the sport and lessen the amount of overall teams in the long run.
Even though we liked the one state rule, PoliceSoftball.com originally went with a two state rule as long as they were adjoining states because several long standing police teams were already constructed with two state players. To institute a rule in the very beginning that would decimate some long standing teams would be counter to our goal of saving teams and helping the sport.
With all this in mind, we at PoliceSoftball.com feel it is now time to go to a one state rule for the World Series starting in 2008.
What this means to you as a player/team:
If you are currently on a World Series roster as a two state team, you are grandfathered in for that specific team and it will have no impact on you or your team. If you are planning to go to a new team where the two state rule is an issue, you must contact PoliceSoftball.com by 12-1-07 and be added to their roster to be eligible for the 2008 World Series.
In roster related news, PoliceSoftball.com will use the World Series rosters as a starting point in an effort to create a roster database. These rosters can be used by any tournament director however they see fit. Whether or not those individual tournament directors choose to inact a roster rule is entirely up to them. However we are currently reviewing our current "ranking tournament" system and we are considering a tiered system where long standing and/or tournaments that involve some type of roster check/balance system will be worth more points than others. More on this to follow.
Soon you will see the World Series roster section simply titled “Rosters”. If you want to update your roster, just e mail PoliceSoftball.com your roster changes and we will keep them updated throughout the year. This will be done for any legitimate police team whether or not you participate in the World Series.
