Matt’s many accomplishments include: selected for All-Tourney numerous times, back to back MVPs in the Cincinnati Tournament, 2012 PS World Series Champion where he hit over .700, 2013 NPSC Champion, 2014 PS.com Sportsman of the Year, and 2015 PS World Series Champion where he hit over .800. Matt has worked alongside Jeff and Del since the inception of the PS.com website. He has been a member of the Competition Committee and Hall of Fame Selection Committee since they were formed. He also was an original Police Honor Team Member that played against the Wounded Warriors the first time. In 1997 the Quake took the field as ''East Bay Combo'', (EBC) Their first stop was Calgary Canada where EBC won the gold. From their the team traveled throughout the Western States winning multiple Police Games titles around the bat and first base glove of Vic. It was common for Vic to hit in the high 700s and double digits in home runs per tournament; his feat of supreme talent astonished opponents and teammates alike as we often saw his 6'-2'', 240 lb frame beat throws to first base from shortstops.Vic was the cornerstone of a very good and young organization, he taught all members of the Quake how to view and appraoch the game. Without his leadersip the Quake would not enjoy its current place amongst Law Enforcement Softball. Although Vic retired from the game in 2005 his spirit and mentorship contiunes to guide the good nature of the Quake. Vic is the Quake's first leader and most deserved for the Hall of Fame. Joe has played/coached the current RSD RED team which has won over 20 medals from the Police Games (California, Arizona, and Nevada) over the past eight years. Joe has been involved in Police Softball for over 30 years now and coaches / plays for one of the few police softball teams in the country with all of its players from the same department (Riverside County Sheriff Department). Joe is a very respected member of the police softball world and he has been the driving force behind the RSD Red team. This epic play by Trini not only capped off the title but also marks the same celebratory timeframe he learned he had conquered his first battle with cancer. He is a two time WS champion, and was named a member of the PS.Com All Decade Team. Mark may arguably have been one of the best pitchers to ever toe the rubber in Police Softball. He has tremendous power and could get a key hit whenever it was needed. But most impressive for Mark is the way he imposed his will on his Hardcor teammates and all other teammates he has played with throughout his career. Mark had an uncanny knack for making all of the players around him better with his sheer will to win. Mark was the glue which kept Hardcor in the hunt for many years. This goal didn’t take too long to come to fruition as his team won their first tournament they played in. Under Rick’s guidance, the team went on to win Dayton National Championships in 2002 and 2004. In 2009, Rick was named the PoliceSoftball.com East Coast Manager of the Year. In 2010, Rick showed why he had earned that award by leading his NYPD Blues to an undefeated run in October to capture the PoliceSoftball.com World Series Championship by beating the vaunted Ohio Lawmen in the championship game. Ricks dedication to the game is without a doubt second to none. He is always trying to make the difference in players lives (his own and others) and this is what makes him special. In between the lines, Rick’s team is someone you don’t want to see. Outside the lines there is no better friend. Skip began as a shortstop and over the years became a pitcher. Over the years Skip has been a part of over 20 medals won by San Diego Police Teams and in 2007, he coached the Socal Alliance to a victory at the PoliceSoftball.com World Series. He was a true five tool player. He always hit for a very high average, and could use his power on command. He roamed the outfield like a gazelle, and had a cannon for an arm. Jim has speed to burn, and was highly sought out for his talents. He eventually landed with Hardcor, and was a vital member of their powerful team. Jim has won a WS Master’s Championship, and been a two time PS.Com All-Star. Scott’s best ability is as a hitter, with a very unorthodox swing he can hit line drive lasers to the gap along with hitting timely home runs. Scott’s best trait is that of a great teammate and as a leader to be respected. In 1985 Dan took over as team manager and has maintained that role ever since. Although the years eventually took their toll and forced him into playing first base, he remained a power hitter for them throughout the 1990's. Dan started the Palm Springs tournament in 1988 and quickly became one of the most traveled to tournaments on the west coast. Dan has proven throughout the years to be an extremely solid softball player, a loyal and dedicated coach, an outstanding tournament director and most importantly, a true friend to the entire police softball community. Gabe made his mark on the softball diamond as a pitcher. I have heard many say Gabe was a USSSA pitcher back before PS.COM adopted the USSSA rules. Gabe utilized many different pitches to keep hitters off balance and enable LAPD Blue to compete for many tournament championships. Gabe was a staple up the middle for the LAPD Blue with his “hockey goalie” like defense on lasers hit up the middle. Most coaches on the circuit will tell ya you have to build or start a team with a quality pitcher. Gabe was that piece for LAPD Blue and became a huge part of LAPD Blue success in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Eddie is one of three original members of the Ohio Lawmen which is one of the best police softball teams in the 2000’s. Eddie's best personal attribute is his humbleness and gentlemanly nature. Eddie was 51 years old at the time of his induction and could still play the game at a high level. In the civilian softball world, Eddie is a honorary inductee of the Cleveland Heights Ohio Softball Hall of Fame. Scott played 3rd base and could field with the best of them. Scott hit for power and had a great arm. Scott had that fierce competitive drive and that enabled him to be very successful. Scott never missed a tournament, and made the family sacrifices to help the Arizona Softball Whores become the best team in Arizona during their time. Darin is extremely respectful of the game and his opponent and is a true gentleman. He is always working on his game and encourages everyone to do the same. He makes himself available for his teammates and anyone else who wants to work on their game. George is a true ambassador of Police Softball as he is always looking for new young talent to keep the circuit thriving. He is one of the nicest and best guys out there. He is a great leader on and off the field. The D2E team then became Team 3N2 which won the 2015 PS.COM World Series. Ryan has been a line to line hitter with tremendous power, along with outstanding defense. Piggy would consistently hit around 700 with power to spare. Piggy was a tremendous competitor and a sportsman. He won gold and silver medals in the California Police games. In the mid eighties, Doug started the original Sierra Heat Softball team which became the El Dorado County Sheriff's Softball club. Doug also became the tournament director of the South Lake Tahoe Law Enforcement Softball Tournament, which is now the Lake Tahoe Summer Classic. Doug built the El Dorado County Lawmen into one of the top Law Enforcement softball clubs in the west. As a player Doug was very tenacious and competitive. He was a strong hitter and heady fielder. As an organizer, NorCal Softball has grown immensely due to his efforts. Potter has been responsible for raising thousands of dollars through bat raffles for fallen officers or those severely injured on duty. Potter has made an impact in most of our lives. He honed his arm with his experience as a pitcher for Cal State Fullerton. Darin helped the Razorbacks win five consecutive tournaments in one year in 1995 and was always mentioned in MVP circles. He was the epitome of a five tool player. Darin suffered a serious car accident while on duty and was nearly cut in half by a big rig. He suffered a severed hamstring and a ruined right knee. He was unable to walk for a period of nearly six months. However, the competitor in him showed up, and he rehabbed his way back onto the field. Although he no longer had the same kind of speed, he used his softball savvy to be a top level competitor once again. Darin helped his team by becoming a major recruiter, and a sage advisor while holding down first base and still hitting every ball he saw. While he no longer had elite speed, he used his skills to still hit doubles and triples by hustling on every play. Frank could run, catch, throw and hit for power with the best of the best. His competitiveness and will to win made him one of the most valuable players on a team that won many honors and championships. Frank was a clutch player who you could rely on always showing up and giving everything he had. Frank hit for power and a high average and defensively could run down anything hit his way. Frank played every year during his entire 20 year career, and sacrificed many things in his life to help the Softball Whores become and remain the best law enforcement softball team in Arizona. Dick attended the first and second National Police Softball Tournament's in Cleveland, Ohio and when it fell by the wayside in 1973, he revived the tournament. Dick brought the tournament to Dayton in 1974 and ran it for next 10 years. In so doing- built the National Police Softball Tournament into the prestigious tournament it became. Dick handed the tourney off in 1985 after running it for 12 years. Dick is considered by many to be the the Father of Modern Police Softball. Gary was diagnosed with colon cancer during his playing days and despite the fact the doctors gave him a short time to live he continued to play and still plays today. Gary was instrumental in leading the Whores to a national title in the 1980’s. Tim ended up roaming the outfield for the Sheriffs for 25 years. During that time his team won countless medals in the open and seniors divisions. After playing for 25 years, Tim joined the SoCal Alliance in 2005. Since Tim joined the Alliance, he has hit over .700. In 2007, at age 47, Tim once again hit over .700 for the season and was named co-MVP of the 2007 World Series. In 2008 at age 48 when many players are slowing down, Tim was named All-Tourney for the Bacon Ball Vegas and the USSSA Law Enforcement Championship. Moller - Mike Moller is 47 years old but shows no sign of slowing down and remains a Force in the Open Division as a member of San Diego Excessive Force. Mike joined SDPD and began playing with the Blue Team in 1989. He was known as The Ghost because of the way he ran in the outfield and around the bases. A left-handed hitter he could spray line-drives to either corner or go deep if the situation was right. A career .700 hitter, Mike has always been the cornerstone of the Blue/Force offense. Mike is one reason The Force is a contender in any tourney they enter. He was part of a dynasty team in the California Department of Corrections that captured 5 consecutive Gold Medals in the CDC Olympic games. He has obtained Gold medals in the World Police Games in Australia in 1995 and at the World Police Games in Indianapolis in 1999. In 2005 his team won a Gold Medal in the California Police Games in the Masters Division. Tony is a silent leader and always leads by example. Prior to that, he played with the famed Long Haul Trucking team in civilian ball where he was a lead-off hitter was nicknamed the "Myth". Needless to say Barry brought instant legitimacy and talent few had ever seen in cop ball when he made the jump. Barry played left field and helped spear head the rise of the Minnesota Lawmen to the elite level. He has received numerous All Tournament selections and often times deferred the recognition to others. Barry was the consummate team player and it is fair to say he changed the face of the Minnesota Lawmen. Barry could do it all on the softball field as he possessed superior power and bat control which had rarely been seen. In his later years he became a crafty pitcher who knew how to keep batters off balance with a variety of unique deliveries. Those teams include Concord Combo, the Quake, and Showtime.Mayer made up for any lack of speed by good positioning, good reads, and taking the proper angles to the ball. Mayer is a two time World Series Masters Champion with the Alliance 40 Cal and currently plays center field for Cali Force. Mayer still uses his power hitting ability and big game experience to contribute to the recent successes of the team. Mayer is the ultimate team player and would rather see a teammate recognized for their performance than to be acknowledged for his own high level of play. Over the past 19 years Dave has played on numerous teams including the NJ Shields, Dirty Jersey Boyz, DAP, East Coast Lawmen, Mid Atlantic and Shamrock Enforcers. Dave has had many MVP selections and made numerous All-Tournament teams (including the old Dayton National Championships), police softball all-star teams and was selected to the Police softball Legends team in 2016. Marsden is the father of Chris Marsden current LAPD great. John was a five tool player with plenty of power and a speed in the outfield. John was named to many all tournament teams and has received numerous MVP awards during his career. John was a key contributor to the LAPD team during the 70’S and early 80’S and very rarely batted below .700. During that time period LAPD won gold medals in each of the California Police Olympics except for one silver. John was also one of the main reasons LAPD had a perfect 1978 season in which they won World Police Olympics in San Diego. When someone looks up the definition of a 700 hitter there should be a picture of Gary Magana. He truly is the model of consistency. Gary has collected numerous All-Tournament selections and was given the nickname "Professional Hitter" by his teammates. Gary has poured his heart and soul into Sacramento Police Department Softball and his #13 jersey should hang with the best that have played Police Softball. Dee’s speed and intensity made him one of the toughest outs in police softball. Dee’s leadership and charisma led Dee to focus his attention on putting together the Norcal Quake. This team quickly became a powerhouse and travelled the United States. The Quake has won numerous tournaments throughout the years including World Series II. T.K. amassed double digit tournament wins with the Quake before retiring in 2002. T.K. was the architect of Quake Softball and he helped always displayed dignity for the game and his opponents to the highest professional standards. Lester also has the uncanny ability to hit to all fields, but will display his home run stroke when needed to win a game. The Magician has also helped to lead his team to a World Series title in 2006. Tommy is extremely fast and versatile as he can play IF, OF and pitcher. Tommy has earned numerous All-Tourney/MVP awards throughout his career and as a leader of the Quake, he has declined many more so he could spread them his players. BK played outfield and every time The Ohio Lawmen won a tournament, was in top 5 or better BK was always in the mix for all-tourney or MVP. Some of his big tournament wins have included the International Police & Fire Games Gold Medal, Detroit Police Tournament 1st Place, The Police World Series, Mens Major Industrial Worlds and many smaller tournaments in between. As a teammate and a friend you couldn’t ask for a better guy than Brian Key. He’d never miss a tournament even when he became severely ill in 2016. Even if he could not play he was still with us helping to coach and support the team. His dedication to police softball is second to none. Since the beginning, Bill has lead a team to the World Series each year. In recent years, Bill's teams have won the Silver Division, placed 2nd in Silver, placed 3rd in the West Coast Championships (2017), placed 9th place in the 2017 Police Softball World Series in Gold, and finally placed 7th in the West Coast Championships (2018). Finally, even while Bill is searching for new talent, he remembers the core players & the value they bring to the team. Bill will also coach, mentor, and guide new softball players which includes playing the game the right way. Larry has made an impact not only on his team, but for police softball in general. His lead by example attitude was a huge reason the DEA team was so successful for so long. He also volunteers his time organizing food drives for the homeless/needy in his community. As a testament to his love for the game, Calvin is always developing young players, teaching them the game, sharing his experience and knowledge. He is a leader on and off the field. Stu has been the heart and soul of the Chicago Metro team and has been a mentor to many players. In the Chicago area, Stu is the Godfather of police softball. Al also displayed his defense by catching everrything in his range, and perfecting the art of turning two at second base. Al was admired for his constant hustle and will to win. He was instrumental in the Arizona success story in the 1980's and 1990's. Tommy is an all tools hitter, using all sides of the field as well as having outstanding power to all fields. In addition to his bat and glove work, Tommy has outstanding speed on the bases. Tommy is a quiet and reserved guy who will never be heard singing his own praises. In his heyday, he became Metro's #3 hitter and solidified that spot in the order. Jerry has been a Hall of Famer off the field for his character, integrity and friendship and now he is a Hall of Famer on the field. Not many can pitch to their defense, with an array of pitches like Keith does. As we all know, fielding middle as a pitcher only strengthens your defense, allowing it to cover more ground. Keith has consistently fielded the middle with the best of them throughout his career. Keith has won the WCPOTY, WS MVP, and the Del Pickney Award. Jim has ran the DEA Team for many years and he is one of the main reasons the team has such a storied history on the West Coast LEO softball scene. In addition to running the team, Jim has also ran the very popular DEA Kickoff tournament for many years. Lenny helped organize and run the then annual Suffolk County Police Memorial Fund Softball Tournament, which raised money for the surviving families of Police Officers killed in the line of duty. During his Police Softball career, has earned numerous All-Tourney/MVP awards. Lenny began as a shortstop and his glove skills were among the best in the game. Carl has played all over the field and began managing the Concord team in 2002. Carl also hosts one of the premier West Coast tournaments. Carl's career and involvement in police softball was cut short by injuries sustained in an on duty motorcycle crash which has limited his ability to travel. Robbie began as a SS, moved to the outfield and ended up playing catcher on his open team and 2B on his Masters Team. Robbie earned multiple All-Tourney, gold glove and MVP awards during his career but nothing was as satisfying as the two and half year run where JPSC won 16 straight tournaments between 1991-1993. Robbie began managing the JPSC in 1998. In addition to all that, Robbie spent time as the tournament director of the very successful Rick Hall Memorial Tournament. Don has won numerous All-Tournament/MVP selections and was named to the Dayton 25th Anniversary All Tournament Team. His teammates gave him the appropriate nickname "Auto" because 9 times out of 10, he is automatic in getting a base hit. Bob has played every position in the game and continues to play all positions in the infield when needed. Ken has won many accolades throughout his career and now he is a member of the HOF. Michigan disbanded after the 2010 season and Scott joined Great Lakes, his current team. Scotty has been one of the top players on the circuit for 15+ years. I can't give you an exact number of all tourneys or mvps he has won, but it is many. 3 awards that stick out, as only a select few have won them, are East Coast Player of the Year (2009), WS MVP (2011), & WS HR Derby champ (2007). He was also named to the PS Legends team in 2016. He has helped to guide the Razorbacks to many tournament titles throughout the West, including multiple Gold and silver medals at the Arizona and California Police Olympics. Anthony always displayed hardnosed style, and led the Razorbacks with his power and batting average. In 2000, Anthony began helping run the Razorbacks. During the next ten years Anthony cultivated friendships, advised other tourney director’s, and participated in the formation of his own tournament, The Star 6 police softball tourney. In 2008, Anthony was awarded the Shevy Wright Sportsman of the Year Award from PoliceSoftball.com and he helped to manage the West All-Star squad to their first World Series win.Anthony has been the West Coast Chairman of the Hall of Fame since its’ inception and now he is a member of that select group. Hank is also a member of the New York ASA Hall of Fame, the Senior World Series Hall of Fame and the Senior Player's Association Hall of Fame. Gordy started his career as a speedy outfielder, but eventually became a heady pitcher who mastered 3 pitches such as a wicked knuckleball, an exaggerated backspin pitch and a flat fast pitch. Gordy led the Hitmen to 4 consecutive Cal-Games Gold Medals in 2000-2003. Over the years Gordy has collected numerous All Tourney selections, MVPs and Gold Medals. Ron took home an All-Tournament team selection with the Maryland Young Gunz, when they took home the Police Softball World Championship of the Silver Division. Ron has also taken the time over the last several years to help co-direct for the Anne Arundel County Lawmen Softball tournament. During that time, Darrel led the vaunted Razorback team to several prestigious titles including Gold Medals at the Arizona and Nevada Police and Fire Games as well as Silver in the California Police Olympics. Darrel was a leftfielder with a cannon arm and a great homerun and high average hitter in the aluminum bat era.More than a player, Darrel's hard work enabled Sac to travel nationwide on multiple occasions. Since joining our circuit, he has easily been one of the top OFs in the country, and arguably one of the top players. He can bat lead off or cleanup. He explodes out of the box thinking at least two bases as he peppers the gaps and can hit a HR for you on command. He gives 100% on every out of every game on both sides of the ball. He's a great teammate and strives to make everyone around him better with his intensity and attitude. It was difficult to break into that starting line-up, but Matt found his place and immediately became a formidable hitter, hitting for a high average and also providing power when needed. When the JPSC folded, Matt formed the North Florida Showdown which has become a top level team on the circuit due to his leadership. When the Whores disbanded due to age, Keith played for the DEA Combo Team that for a 2-year period was one of the best LE Softball teams that ever competed in police softball. Due to his fiery attitude, Benji has consistently been labeled as the person you love as a teammate, but hate playing against. Al is considered as one of the fathers of Police Softball. He assisted in making it a California Olympic sport in the 70's and has always been a coordinator when the games came to San Diego. During his playing days, Alvin was a pitcher and he was one of the first to develop the high back-spinning pitch. The pitch would reach the plate and just drop in for a strike. He was a very difficult pitcher to get hits off of. Al was one of the reasons the tough San Diego softball teams existed and he helped set the tradition for future San Diego area teams. Tyson can hit line to line, gap to gap, even throw in some power at times. He is one of those players; you cannot remember ever seeing him make an out. Tyson is a four time World Series Masters Champion, 2016 World Series Masters MVP, 2018 Shevy Wright Award. Tyson is also very involved in the behind the scenes of Police Softball. Greg won multiple tournament MVP awards throughout his career. Nate was a pioneer in defensive shifts, playing deep with two outs, and of course the popular infield skip throw across the Vegas turf. PS.Com created the Defensive Player of the Year Award for Nate to acknowledge his greatness on the field. JB once wrote on a PS.Com post, “Nate Baez, the player in which the defensive player of the year award was created for.” Nate has earned four P.S. Championships. Most importantly, John is a true gentlemen and one reason our law enforcement game is so great. He was a nationally ranked power lifter who scorched every ball he hit, many balls went 400 feet while they knuckled on out of the park. Cameron was also very gifted with his quick feet and could turn singles into doubles by always hustling. The best attribute he possessed was his leadership on and off the field. Cam was always the first guy to say "we aren’t done yet!" He would take a teammate aside and lift his spirits with his kind words, and always had his hand out to pick up an opposing player he had just crushed at home plate. I never understood why guys would try to run him over at home plate. Jumbo embodies all of the qualities we want in our great game of police softball.
