42nd Lawmen Classic Recap
The Empire Strikes Back
This year has been a little different than the past 41 years, having an all-time low of only 9 teams. However, in the 9 teams were arguably the top teams on the east coast. After pool play Saturday Morning, 5 teams went up to the major and 4 teams went down to the Gold. Seeding for Major was as followed Mid Atlantic, The Suffolk/Nassau Combo, Ny Empire, Max Elite, and TBL. Which left the Gold as followed Maryland’s Finest, Maryland Combo, Lake County Lawmen, and Baltimore County.
Starting elimination Saturday TBL edged Max Elite and was then defeated by Mid Atlantic. Who would meet the Empire on Sunday morning in the sit back game. In the loser’s bracket Suffolk/Nassau would then run off three straight to make their way to the championship against the Empire. The boys from empire firing on all cylinders would win the first one going 5-0 on the weekend and claiming the Major championship.
In the Gold bracket some close first round games came about with Md Finest beating Baltimore by 4 and Md Combo edging Lake County by 2. Finest would beat the combo in the sit back game to then have a rematch Sunday afternoon in the championship, where Maryland’s Finest again beat the Md Combo to claim the Gold Championship.
On Behalf of Steve, Scott, and myself I want to thank all of these loyal teams who support this tournament year in, and year out and always make it a wonderful weekend. A real quick Special shout out to the Lake County Lawmen and the 2023 Teddy Wolf Sportsmanship recipient Rob Casaburi.
