The Worlds are played in October and mark the official end of the season by crowning a world champion. This year, 50 teams descended on the Palm Springs, Ca. region for a shot at the crown. It was a three-day event that featured two round robin seeding games followed by a double elimination tournament. The event was sanctioned by USSSA and officially sponsored by Easton Sports.

The event was once again held at the Big League Dreams facility in Cathedral City, Ca. and it once again featured the 50 best teams in the law enforcement circuit. Every year the event has grown and drawn more national exposure and this year was no different.

2010-WORLD SERIES VI
Policesoftball.com's World Series VI was held at a new venue this year after spending five successful years in Palm Springs, Ca. The brand new Big League Dreams facility in Las Vegas, Nv. was simply too enticing to pass up as it offered many benefits to the traveling teams including less expensive direct flights, less expensive hotels and the most state-of-the-art softball complex in the nation. The park boasts six replica fields including an American League side (Fenway, Yankee and Angel) and a National League side (Wrigley, Crosley and Dodger) and each side had its own clubhouse that served a variety of food and drinks.

2011-WORLD SERIES-VII
This year marked the 7th Policesoftball.com World Series which was hosted at the Big League Dreams facility in Las Vegas, Nv. Although there are some basic aspects of the World Series that will never change, there is always something new each year and this year was no exception

2012 - WORLD SERIES VIII
The 8th Annual Police Softball World Series was hosted once again by www.policesoftball.com at the Big League Dreams facility in Las Vegas, Nevada the second weekend of October. The tournament has grown every year as it started with 32 teams in 2005 and swelled to 73 teams this year. Unfortunately, the open division is capped and for the first time ever teams were turned away for failing to qualify before the deadline.

2013 - WORLD SERIES IX
Big League Dreams Las Vegas played host to the Police Softball World Series which drew 71 law enforcement teams, with 1000+ players from over 30 states. The word “World” in World Series was appropriate in that, there were three Canadian teams participating; Toronto Police Softball, Prince Albert Police and the Regina Cyclones. Early arrivals were treated to a catered player’s reception at the Golden Nugget Hotel hosted by Hall of Famer Terry Dugan and his new Virginia based Lockdown Sports Gear company. Easton Sports with Brett Helmer and Miken with Denny Crine supplied all the bats for the tournament.

2014 - World Series X, "A Decade of Excellence"
2014 marked the 10 year anniversary of the Police Softball World Series. To commemorate the event specially designed logos were unveiled with the Roman numeral X (ten). Even the stone obelisk trophies were special as they were made of a pearl white marble which is a stark contrast to the previous 9 that were made from black and green stone. The event was simply called World Series X.

2015 - WORLD SERIES XI
The 3N2/D2E Lawmen arrived in Las Vegas with a purpose! Earlier in the year one of their teammates, John Scollo took his own life for reasons we will never know. If anything, it confirmed what most police officers already know and that is the stresses of the profession are often internalized which is believed to be why suicide is a common cause of death for police officers. The 3N2/D2E Lawmen had been in Police Softball World Series championship game a few short years ago and finished as runner’s up, but on this weekend they were determined to win the World Championship to celebrate John’s life.

2016 - World Series XII
SoCal Alliance, Team Texas, San Antonio Law and NorCal Elite emerge as Champions The 12th Annual Police Softball World Series was held at the Big League Dreams facility in Las Vegas, Nevada on the 2nd weekend of October, 2016. The theme of the event was the “changing of the guard” as several established teams were feeling the heat of the young guns breathing down their necks all season. The youth movement was far more prevalent this year than in the past so of course, ps.com decided to market that angle. It was no longer about East vs. West, as the cyber-friendships created by social media killed that rivalry. What it didn’t kill was the inevitable changing of the guard. Older, established teams were classified as being Legends of the Old Guard, while the newer teams were simply referred to as the New World Order.

2017 - World Series XIII
On the night of October 1, 2017, a cowardly gunman opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip, leaving 58 people dead and 546 injured. My wife and daughter were in that crowd and escaped physically unharmed. My daughter had to step over wounded concert goers to escape and there were moments of terror as my wife and daughter were separated for over 10 minutes while the shots rang out.

2018 - World Series XIV
Representing the cream of the crop of law enforcement softball from across the nation, 87 teams took to the field to show their talent. The weekend resulted in Champions in 5 Divisions, a new Home Run King, and 13 new Hall of Fame Inductees. The Police Softball World Series XIV was bittersweet this year because my best friend and partner who created the event, Del Pickney passed away earlier this year. Although it was great to see so many friends and to be greeted with hugs and words of encouragement, it simply was not the same without Del. Teams from all over the nation paid tribute to Del in some form or another. Many had has number, #34 on their uniforms, some hung banners, while others wore wristbands. Del's wife Michele commented that she was glad to see he had such a positive impact on so many people.

2019 - World Series XV Official Recap
The 15th Annual Police Softball World Series was completely sold out over two months in advance. This year marked the 10-year anniversary at the Big League Dreams venue in Las Vegas. The park itself is only 10 years old, so Police Softball has been there since its inaugural year. The first 5 years saw the Cathedral City (Palm Springs, Ca.) as the host venue. The event itself has undergone very few changes over the past few years, so there is nothing new to report in regards to the format.

2021- World Series XVI
Add these names to the Champion Wall: LAPD Blue-Majors, Stanislaus-Mids, South Florida Lawmen-Gold, Northwest Shakedown-Silver. “Don’t call it a comeback. We’ve been here for years.” After losing the 2020 season due to COVID, things felt normal again in Las Vegas for Police Softball World Series XVI. The event sold out with 32 teams competing in Uppers (Majors & Mids) and 38 teams in Lowers (Gold). We scheduled for a 40 team Gold division but we had 2 late drops. In total we had a total of 70 teams from over 30 states competing over the four-days.

World Series XVII
World Series XVII was once again held at the Big League Dreams facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. 66 teams representing over 30 states participated in the 4-day event, and overall it was a huge success. The tournament theme was based on the television series Yellowstone so fittingly the event slogan was “Earn the Brand.” Not anyone can represent “The Brand.”

World Series XVIII
World Series XVIII was played the 2nd weekend of October in Las Vegas as usual. And as usual, it was a big success with over 70 teams participating in two divisions, Uppers and Lowers. Only 5 Upper teams (Elite 8) were earmarked for the 16 team “Majors” division while the remaining teams had to play their way in via the 3 game round robin or be designated as “Mid Majors.” In Lowers, teams used to simply proclaim they were a “Gold” team but this year they had to battle for that title. 42 teams had to earn the title of Gold through the 3 game round robin. The cream of the crop made the Sweet 16 for the playoffs, whereas the remaining 26 teams played in the largest division, Silver.
