Aprils Fools Tourney is a Success

Connections wins majors, JCats win gold and the Seals claim Silver

Teams found out the “April Fools” Tournament lived up to it’s name this year. Just when they thought they had enough players … April Fools … players either dropped out the week of or no showed all together. Several teams played short handed this year, but that didn’t stop guys from coming out and showing support.
The brackets were pre-determined, and Majors consisted of only two teams this time around; Cen Cal and Stanislaus. Cen Cal was missing some of their key infielder’s, but with a roster as deep as theirs, it didn’t stop them from going undefeated for the day. Stanislaus came short with only 9 guys, and with a little help from Reloaded, they were able to play with 10. During a seeding game, WC Lawmen beat Stanislaus. WC Lawmen was slated for the gold bracket, but offered to play up in the major bracket after securing a win against a depleted Stanislaus team. Lawmen were unafraid and didn’t back down from a fight against the dominating central California team. They fought hard, but ultimately fell to Cen Cal, who took the Majors championship.

The Gold Division was up for grabs. After seeding, most teams went 1 and 1 and the bracket placements came down to run differential. Reloaded took the number 1 seed, with the other teams nipping at their heels. Enforcers ended up 0-2 with a negative 31 run differential. But once bracket play started, Enforcers figured it out, sending Bay Area Combo and Reloaded home. Direct Impact had some last minute drops, but with some help from our Canadian brothers who flew down to play, were able to field solid group of guys. Direct Impact faced J-Cats in the game before the ship, and J- Cats ended up sending them home. J-Cats came out hot in bracket play and faced Enforcers in the championship game. J-Cats put up 14 runs in the top of the first inning and Enforcers were not able to recover from the deficit. J-Cats kept the bats hot through the rest of the game and ended up with the Gold Division title.

The Silver Division consisted of a four team showdown; SF Seals, Stanislaus Legion, Antioch PD, and OPD. Antioch won both their seeding games and took the number 1 seed. Once bracket play started, OPD was able to hold Antioch back and sent them packing. SF Seals squeaked out a win against Stanislaus Legion and the stage was set for Battle of the Bay 2022; OPD vs SF Seals. OPD had 9 guys and the Seals took full advantage of it. The Seals were crowned the Silver Division Champions and re-claimed the bragging rights for the year.

Thank you to all the teams and players that attended and continue to show support to our circuit. It truly is appreciated. Congratulations to the winning teams and we are looking forward to the next one.
