Mike "Pancake" Panackia Receives Rockwell/Arpin Case of the Year Award

Paul Chavez approached PS last year and through his association with Rockwell Watches and Arpin Van Lines, he coordinated rewarding over 20 PS players last year with Rockwell Thin Blue Line watches at world series XII as a way to thank our officers for their service. Paul will be doing the same thing at world series XIII. In addition to that, Paul wanted to specifically recognize a PS officer this year for outstanding work off the field.
We asked for nominations for “Case of the Year” and we received some great responses that really highlighted some amazing work. We utilized our Competition Committee on this one and collectively they named Mike “Pancake” Panackia as the first ever Rockwell/Arpin Case of the Year winner.

Officer Panackia and his team have an astounding (for Detroit) 48% Armed Robbery closure rate for 2017. By far, leading the city of Detroit which averages of 23% city wide.

Officer Panackia’s team investigated a sting of robberies and carjackings committed by a single perpetrator. The pattern was discovered by Officer Panackia and soon after he identified these robberies were all related, he began his investigation. Officer’ Panaickia and his team worked hard to solve this case by using old school police work. The perpetrator was arrested, confessed to numerous robberies and is currently being held on $250.000 bond for each count.

Officer Panackia is an extremely valuable member of his team and his drive and leadership helped put an end to a string of armed robberies.

For his excellent work on this case, he is our first ever recipient of the Rockwell/Arpin Case of the Year Award. Officer Panackia will be presented with a Rockwell Thin Blue Line watch at World Series XIII.
