Dave will receive a custom plaque courtesy of Vaughan Garrett the former owner of Garrett Metal Detectors. Vaughan hand selects the winner of this award annually.
This year I would like to nominate our starting outfielder, David Levy for this award. Dave has been an intricate part of our team, on and off the field. Even more so, he is a huge intricate to the community he serves, Flossmoor, Illinois.
Dave is well known through his community, and police department, as always being involved with the people in his community. Dave is the guy who sees kids outside paying basketball and gets out and plays with them.
Recently, he saw a group of people playing softball in his town and they were short a player. While in uniform, Dave got out there and played a game with them. Some probably don't know this, but shortly after Vegas, 2021, while on patrol, he saw a group of kids playing basketball. Dave, in uniform, got out and played with them. Well, Dave suffered an injury and tore his Achilles. Luckily for him, it wasn't bad and it didn't roll up. Dave was off work from November 2021 until about July of 2022.
Even after getting back to work, Dave was still seen interacting with people in his community, from the young to the old. Doing all this and still being one of the most proactive officers in his police department. Dave loves doing this and feels, given the day and age we live, this is one of the most important components in police work, Community Policing. I have attached a few pictures to give you an idea of what Dave does on a daily basis at work. I hope he is truly considered for this award because this award is exactly what Dave is all about.
