Shamrocks 3-Peat NPSC in Cincy!
Steel City Enforcers claim GOLD
The weather was hot, complex was nice, Miken bats were provided. Great opening ceremony, players party was off the charts. A new format was put in place to add new competition for the major teams. While still having a gold division championship as well. It's called a slugfest tourney. We had the the top 6 seed teams play one game for seeding 1-6. All other teams are pre seeded in the open bracket with the top six teams. They then play 2 and out open tourney. After being eliminated the bottom 8 teams dropped to a gold division 2 and out tourney.
After the top six teams played each other in a one round robin format for seeding. Shamrocks was crowned the # 1 seed, followed by # 2 seed was Ohio Lawman, # 3 seed TBL, # 4 seed, Metro Detroit Finest, # 5 seed Mid-Atlantic, # 6 seed Ky Blue.
The open tourney was played out. The one surprise team was Norseman PSC, who knocked off powerhouse Ohio Lawman, before falling to KY Blue and dropping to Gold.
The finals winner bracket teams were Shamrocks vs TBL, That's were Shamrocks sent TBL to the losers bracket .
Losers bracket Ohio beat Mid-Atlantic and KY Blue beat Norseman PSC, That set up match up between Ohio Lawman vs Ky Blue, Ohio Lawman won that game that set up loser bracket final against TBL.
Ohio Lawman won that match up . That set up the championship game against 2 time defending champs Shamrocks.
After a tight played game that was tied 18-18 in the 6th inning. The now Three Peat Champion Shamrocks won 28-19. Congrats to both teams. Shamrock has not lost a game in The Nati in 3 years. Last game they lost was 4 years ago in the championship game against the KY Blues.
In the Gold Division Midwest Heat defeated Norseman PSC, to set up a match up against a undefeated Steel City team. Midwest Heat forced a if game by defeating Steel City 26-24.
But when the dust settled Steel City Enforcers prevailed in a tight game 18-15, Making Steel City the 2018 Gold National Champions. Congrats to both teams.
NPSC is the longest running police softball tourney in the country.
