Skip Stephenson To Receive Del Pickney Lifetime Achievement Award

The Del Pickney Lifetime Achievement Award is an award given to those who exemplify the same lofty standards which Del espoused. Honor, integrity, and dedication to team was paramount for this year's recipient, Skip Stephenson. He was an old school softball player who gave it all for his team and dedicated his time to promoting Police Softball. Skip is a HOFer for his play on the field as well as his presence as a great teammate.

He is humble about his accomplishments, but very deserving of his accolades. Skip was a mainstay for the San Diego Grays, and the Socal Alliance. Even at an advanced age, Skip could pitch and hit with the best of them. When he finally hung up his softball shoes, Skip became a mentor to his grand daughter and grand sons on their softball and baseball adventures. Skip is a legend in the San Diego police sporting scene!!

PS.COM founder Jeff Blair had this to say about Skip: “Skip was a bulldog on the field, but off the field he was one of the nicest guys I have ever met through police softball. Del and I thought so highly of him that after he retired from the sport and his team folded, we asked him to join the SoCal Alliance in a managerial position. We very much appreciated his sense of humor and even keeled personality to keep us grounded during our most intense years where we traveled the nation and won several World Championships. Skip drove all the way from San Diego to attend Del’s funeral which proves how strong their bond was. I am glad Big Tone and Dennis selected Skip for his award because when I think lifetime achievements and Del I also think of Skip.”
