2024 Defensive Player of the Year Announced
The DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR award was established in 2008 when we recognized that playing lock down defense is what propelled teams to championships. The top defensive player often got overlooked since his stats were not tangible unlike hitters who could post OBP, HR, RBI etc. Nate Baez was the premier middle infielder in the sport and changed the game with his style of play so in order to recognize his skill set this award was created. Nate was the first WC Defensive Player of the Year. That same year, Jeff "Biscuit" Graus from the Michigan lawmen was re-defining the position of pitcher and playing at a level ahead of his peers. He was named the EC Defensive Player of the Year.
This year the award will be bestowed upon the 3x World Series Champions middle infielder Daulton Cabacungan- LAPD Blue. Daulton patrols the middle infield of the LAPD Blue defense like a field general and is known for making unbelievable defensive plays. Some players crack under pressure but Daulton seems to thrive and play at even a higher level in big game situations.
Daulton will be recognized at our World Series Opening Ceremony on Friday night in Las Vegas. Congrats Daulton, well deserved!
