2024 Shevy Wright Sportsman of the Year Announced

Shevy Wright was introduced to the Police Softball circuit by Hall of Famer Keith Benjamin in 2007. Shevy was a young man with severe disabilities who had a dream of being a sworn police officer. Shevy, in his final days was sworn in as an officer by Chandler (AZ) Police Department and attended World Series III in full uniform. Shevy, his mother, and PS.COM co-founder Del Pickney threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Sadly, a few months later Shevy succumbed to his illness. After his passing, the SHEVY WRIGHT SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR award was implemented. The spirit of the award is directed to the ps.com member who displays a great love for the good of the sport and profession. It is for someone who gives more than they ask.

This year, that award will be bestowed on KEVIN SCHOCH Kevin Schoch. Kevin ran the Team Texas/Ft. Worth Panthers team for 20+ years and upon retiring as a team manager, decided to direct his efforts toward assisting PS.COM with hustling for sponsors, checking identifications at the World Series, traveling to PS tourneys across the nation, taking photographs, announcing etc. Kevin doesn't even have a team he is affiliated with, but is truly involved in the sport to bolster the circuit as a whole.

Kevin and his wife Lisa will be in Las Vegas in October where they can be found working the ID booth, announcing or taking photos. Kevin will be presented with a plaque during the WS opening ceremonies on Friday evening. Congrats KEVIN !
