Welcome to Police Softball
Welcome to the premier online resource for police softball tournaments and events. Established in 2005 by Del Pickney and Jeff Blair, our mission has always been to provide a comprehensive platform for police softball tournament directors to advertise dates and locations of their events, ensuring players can plan and participate with ease.
What is Police Softball?
-
PoliceSoftball.com was born out of the necessity to streamline communication and event scheduling for police softball tournaments across the United States. Prior to the internet, advertising for this niche involved mailing hard copy fliers to individual police agencies—a time-consuming and inefficient process.
-
Our founders, Del Pickney and Jeff Blair, recognized the potential of an online clearinghouse for tournament dates, enabling players to request vacation time and schedule for events more effectively. Despite being based in Southern California, we quickly realized that police softball tournaments were happening nationwide, leading to the creation of a message board for players to interact and debate the best teams in the country.
-
These debates culminated in the first-ever Police Softball World Series at the Big League Dreams Sports Complex in Cathedral City, CA, in 2005. The Ohio Lawmen emerged victorious, defeating the NYPD Metro team in the championship game.
-
Since then, PoliceSoftball.com and the sport itself have grown exponentially, necessitating a move of our World Series venue from Palm Springs, CA, to Las Vegas, NV. As we approach our 20th anniversary, our commitment to the community and the sport remains unwavering.
Our Story
PoliceSoftball.com was founded by Del Pickney and Jeff Blair to streamline communication and event scheduling for police softball tournaments across the U.S. What started as a simple message board quickly grew into the central hub for police softball, allowing players to coordinate and debate team rankings nationwide.
This led to the first Police Softball World Series in 2005, where the Ohio Lawmen triumphed over the NYPD Metro team. The event's success spurred further growth, moving the World Series to Las Vegas, NV.
As we near our 20th anniversary, our dedication to the sport and its community remains strong.
Policesoftball.com is dedicated to Del Pickney
This website is dedicated to Del Pickney, who passed away in 2018. After Del’s passing, the management team of PoliceSoftball.com became Jeff Blair and his wife Anne Marie, along with Del’s wife Michele and close friend Ryan Coe. While Jeff and Ryan handle the majority of softball operations, Anne Marie and Michele are the wind beneath our wings, with Del watching over us from above.
Rest in peace, Delbert Pickney—we have it from here.
